La Virée comes from a French expression “Faire une virée” that means “a short friendly visit”, that is basically what they do when they go play in a festival or an event.
The folk group is made of 5 musicians together for the fun of playing music. The instruments played by the musicians are: fiddle, mandolin, guitar, bass, stand up bass, drum, feet percussion and of course vocals. Their musical influences are Acadian, Quebecois, Cajun and Celtic.
Since their beginning in 2001, they played in front of more than 50 000 people in event ranging from St-John’s Newfoundland to Vancouver; they played in Ontario, Québec, PEI and of course in New Brunswick where they are from. In the summer of 2004, they had a lot of success in Lorient , France where they played a marathon; 18 shows in 9 days!!!

The musicians:
Stéphane Basque has a university degree in percussion. He has touched all kind of music: Latin, folk, pop… Stéphane is the drummer, he harmonizes too.
Steven Haché has traveled a lot with is music, he plays a lot of different styles. Steven plays bass and harmonizes with the group.
Denis Surette is playing guitar.
Sébastien Leblanc is a young fiddle player who has a classical and traditional background, he plays fiddle, mandolin and he harmonizes too.
Eric Haché comes from a musical family, he is the lead singer and he plays acoustic guitar and harmonica.
La Virée likes to give a good party where they go, no time to waltz with them!
